For this reason the Cooperative, aware that some plant processes can put hearing health at risk at work and outside of it, established safety measures to prevent noise effects. For example, boilers are placed in sound-isolating spaces to prevent sound from spreading, and inside packaging facilities, people are required to wear earplugs.
This is important because noise can “cause hearing loss or be harmful to health,” according to the Working Environment Convention . And, the measures to avoid the risks associated with this phenomenon include technical adaptations, such as those mentioned above, and complementary measures, such as the Pontehear program , which is carried out periodically to evaluate the quality of hearing health at work.

Campaigns to take care of hearing health at work
Taking care of hearing health at work and outside of it, as we have already mentioned, is one of Cooperativa Pascual's priorities. For this reason, within the Pontehear program and in collaboration with the MVS Radio Foundation, the Boing Hearing Health Day was organized , in which audiometries were carried out, that is, studies to detect alterations in the level of hearing. Based on these examinations, hearing aids were delivered according to the hearing needs of each person.
But not only that, but the beneficiaries also received the instruments to keep the devices in good condition, as well as instructions, manuals and training for their proper use. Likewise, they were integrated into a monitoring program to control the specific hearing needs of those who received this service in the campaign carried out from November 28 to December 5, 2022.
During this period, 168 consultations and audiometries were carried out and 122 hearing aids were adapted at the Pascual Cooperative Corporate Office, at the CEDIS of Vallejo, Chalco and Tultepec, as well as at the Tizayuca and San Juan del Río plants. Of the 168 patients treated, 119 had moderate (hearing in the range of 41 to 60 dB HL) to severe (hearing in the range of 41 to 60 dB HL) hearing loss.
It should be noted that the hearing loss of most patients is presbycusis , a common condition in all people over 35 years of age. However, not addressing this condition and letting it progress can compromise both quality of life and work productivity.
