Only 5% of families talk about menstruation with their children. 3,000 surveys will be applied nationwide and in the states of Michoacán, Tamaulipas, Oaxaca, Chihuahua and Baja California . Essity, the world's leading Swedish company in hygiene and health, and #DignifiedMenstruationMexico organized, within the framework of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, celebrated on May 28, the event “Essential conversations: challenges and actions for dignified menstruation. 1st edition: data, dialogue and action . This is the first forum of its kind in Mexico. Members of civil society organizations, companies, governments and the media met to discuss how to achieve a more informed, adequate, safe and empathetic menstruation . The forum included the participation of UNICEF as guest of honor.
During the forum “Essential conversations: challenges and actions for dignified menstruation” the participants recognized important advances, such as the zero tax rate for menstrual hygiene products and legislative initiatives in the federal entities aimed at improving the situation of women and all menstruating people. However, the speakers agreed that data is needed to design better policies, both public and private, to truly achieve dignified menstruation. Essity, #Menstruaci n Guatemala Mobile Number List DignaMéxico and UNICEF, announced the start of a national survey to learn more about how women and menstruating people experience their cycle and menstrual period . The survey will delve into the issues of infrastructure, legislation, physiological aspects, management methods and the cultural and social context of menstruation, taking into account the effects caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
