An agreement was signed this Tuesday in Brasília with the World Bank and the Attorney General's Office of the National Treasury PGFN for the development of a project that seeks to reduce inequalities between bodies of the Brazilian Judiciary and ensure greater access of the needy population to Justice. The president of the National Council of Justice minister Cezar Peluso was the one who signed the agreement.
Under the agreement the international organization will donate thousand dollars to Brazil to carry out a study that highlights the asymmetries that exist in Brazilian state justice in terms of management training and computerization as BTC Number Data well as the cause of these inequalities. The survey will serve as a basis for the development of concrete actions capable of promoting geographic equity in the provision of Justice services and contributing to the reduction of existing inequalities between the Judiciary of the most developed states and the poorest.
The amount will be donated to Brazil through the National Treasury to finance the project coordinated by the CNJ. “It is the beginning of a process in which the World Bank will have a decisive contribution to this fundamental issue of ending inequalities and asymmetries in Brazilian justice bodies” highlighted the president of the Council. Based on this mapping some states three to five that present the most acute deficiencies in their judicial system will be chosen for the development of a pilot project aimed at improving judicial activity.
Each court will be able to propose modernization actions based on the national diagnosis which will be carried out with the support of the CNJ. Among the measures to be adopted are for example institutional strengthening actions training preparation of manuals technical assistance in the administrative area among others. According to Minister Peluso the agreement with the CNJ will serve as a stimulus for in the future courts and state governments to establish direct partnerships with the World Bank aimed at improving Justice.
According to the World Bank director for Brazil Deborah Wetzel this is the World Bank's first operational project with the Brazilian Judiciary. “It is a fair cause that seeks to fight poverty and promote faster and more inclusive justice for all Brazilians” highlighted Wetzel. For the general coordinator of PGFN Sônia Portella this is a project of exceptional relevance that reinforces citizenship by seeking to expand access to justice for the needy population.
